i remember when i went through some dumb scene whatever phase in like 7th-8th grade and once i tried styling my hair by teasing it in the back and just pulling a bunch of hair over the side of my face to make it look like peekaboo bangs or some shit and i showed my mom and said “heh how do you like my scene hair : ^)" and she was like “it looks like u have a combover"

people are concerned with appearances. whether or not you rail against it as a great societal injustice, the fact remains that how you look is largely a result of how you present yourself. maybe it’s unfair that you can’t go to work wearing orange tights and rainbow feather earrings and a stick-on tattoo of sonic the hedgehog, but tough luck because you look ridiculous and you’re no longer five.
