but that’s because the main consumers of video games are men and have been men for like YEARs????!?!?? it’s dumb and unfortunate that some people can only relate to a protagonist and think a video game is worth playing if the protagonist shares their gender, and yeah it definitely would be refreshing to have more female protagonists in games, i’m sure that would be a welcome change for most people, but it’s not like women are being oppressed because of video games or the creators are misogynists they’re just trying to make money 
and as the amount of female video gaymers has increased with time, there have been more games with female protagonists or at least really well-developed female characters that aren’t princesses who need to be rescued. It’s really not as much of an issue as Anita makes it out to be.

oh boy here we go she’s pretty much wrong about everything, but the thing is, I find games that are virtually soft-core porn with no substance aside from that super annoying and not worth playing at all (if i want to look at breasts or loli butts i could look at porn) and the whole thing with Toriyama tainting final fantasy by deciding to make lightning’s tits bigger and adding JIGGLE PHYSICS because why not???? is really agitating to me. There’s the whole Dragon’s Crown thing where the big booby lady was just designed that way and was meant to be a sexual figure from the start and that’s cool and all—but even though I hated the fuck out of FF13 and thought Lightning was an incredibly boring character, she still had a decent design and was probably the second least annoying character in that whole game. but nah, time to put the whole beloved FFX-2 spin on her and revolutionize final fantasy by adding some interesting tit movement because that’s how you get people excited for YET ANOTHER SEQUEL to what is probably one of the worst FF games in the series. 
So with Anita’s argument against sexualizing characters, it’s like, close but no cigar?? because it’s true that she dislikes it but she dislikes it for the wrong reasons, she turns it into some big thing on how female characters are misrepresented all the time and this oppresses women etc but I really just think it’s an issue with the vision of the creators and how they tend to take the easy way out to create exciting characters and games instead of being more inventive i guess
