Les formes et couleurs incroyables du désert saoudien, et tout à coup : des ronds dans des carrés. Invariablement, la main humaine apporte au paysage des lignes très régulières, quand la nature tend plutôt à éroder de façon erratique.

Renforcement musculaire :sparkles: de l’espace :sparkles: ARED, notre machine de musculation, utilise des systèmes pneumatiques pour qu’on puisse faire de la musculation en impesanteur. Si vous êtes en train de vous préparer physiquement pour la sélection d’astronautes, ne vous découragez pas, c’est notre lot quotidien à bord de la Station spatiale. Tous les jours sans exception pendant 200 jours ! Les douches me manquent, la pluie me manque parfois aussi, et les aliments frais, le vent, mais en secret j’aimerais aussi avoir un jour pousser de la fonte - ne le répétez pas à mon médecin !

#SpaceWorkOut anyone? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: The Advanced Resistive Exercise Device or ARED is called this for a reason, it uses pressurized air in two cylinders and complicated machinery to allow us to weightlift in space: squats, deadlifts, bench press, shoulder press, biceps curl, etc, we can do it all… but we do a lot of squats: these muscles don’t do much work during our normal day. We never skip exercise on the International Space Station. Every. Single. Day. I miss having a shower, and I miss the rain, and I miss fresh food, but secretly I also miss having a day without having to exercise. Don't tell my flight surgeon!

Vu d’ici, on pourrait croire que Santorin va avaler Néa Kaméni et les îles environnantes ! L’archipel de Santorin est formé sur un volcan dont la caldeira s’est effondrée sous le niveau de la mer Méditerranée. Ce volcan pourrait être à l'origine du mythe de l’Atlantide, après qu’une très forte éruption a détruit les villes qui prospéraient sur l’île. I love the look of Santorini from space, is it about to take a large bite and swallow the Tholos Naftilos volcano whole? The boat on the left looks like it was traveling very fast towards the natural harbour. An age-old volcano eruption here could have been the inspiration for the myth of Atlantis, one theory goes. After its eruption a whole civilisation might have been lost to the sea, when you see it like this, it is an interesting theory, and all the more interesting that the eruptions made this natural harbour. www.esa.int/ESA_Multimedia/Images/2021/09/Santorini_stitched

Les méandres du fleuve Syr-Daria en Asie centrale semblent dessiner des volutes de fumée. Sur les rives s’étendent des champs cultivés grâce à la proximité de l’eau. L’une des photos montre notamment un canal, on dirait un raccourci sur la berge mais c’est très certainement utilisé pour l’irrigation.

Framing is everything, the Syr Darya river at two zoom levels: the winding rivers remind me of wisps of smoke. At the borders of the river you can see the #CropArt where humans have naturally started growing food using the life-giving water a river brings. Note how on one picture a river bend seems to have been cut off by a canal, it looks like a shortcut but undoubtedly used for irrigation.
