La côte de Miami, qui m’évoque avant tout les Heat de Pat Riley que je suivais avidement ado... Et aujourd’hui je peux zoomer sur la FTX Arena depuis l’espace – si j’avais su à l’époque… ! Depuis j’ai eu la chance de quasiment toutes les visiter et je me fais aujourd’hui un plaisir de les mettre à l’honneur, même celles qui ne sont pas grandes côté taille, mais qui le sont au moins côté palmarès et côté cœur ;) En bonus, la plupart sont disponibles en collage pour une exploration détaillée :mag:

Growing up in small-town Normandy, my geography (and really all of my knowledge) of the United States originally came from… basketball and the NBA. I’ll spare you how starved of images and information we were, but I soon knew well all the cities that had a team, and totally ignored all the others, no matter big or small, east or west. I’ve travelled to most of them since, but flying in space is a good way for me to reconcile actual geography with the NBA map I’ve always had in mind, where San Antonio is just as big as LA, and Chicago bigger than New York City… ;)

Toulouse, capitale :fr: (on peut sans doute dire européenne) de l’aérospatial ! Le CNES y a son centre le plus important, ainsi bien sûr qu’Airbus qui y construit ️ et surtout :airplane: ! Le ballet des dérives flambant neuves peintes aux couleurs de toutes les compagnies du monde est un spectacle qui anime l’aéroport depuis bien des années. Des centaines d’entreprises et sous-traitants, institutions gouvernementales, des musées, universités et écoles d’ingénieurs leaders (:wave: @isae.supaero) et une histoire riche complètent le tableau, toujours sur le thème de l’aérien et de l’espace. Si l’aérospatial n’est pas votre passion (chacun ses goûts après tout ), c’est aussi la ville du :rugby_football: (un titre très disputé mais pour cette année les trophées sont sans équivoque) et il y fait très bon vivre, notamment grâce à sa population étudiante importante ! www.esa.int/ESA_Multimedia/Images/2021/09/Toulouse_together

Toulouse, where the heart of aerospace beats in France (and, one could argue, in Europe)! From space-themed museums to leading universities (I see you isae-supaero), state institutions like CNES the French space agency and its biggest technical centre, hundreds of companies in the sector, and of course Airbus employing tens of thousands of people to design and build satellites and planes. That’s where I learned about aerospace as a student, got a job as an engineer, learned to fly small planes, and later came back and flew the biggest and most modern in the world with Airbus’s test pilots. I have so many friends in that city, and I think of them when we fly over. One could say that’s where it all began for me! However, for the people who are not so aerospacially inclined (I have been told they exist), there is also much more: the pink streets and university town make it a charming place for all – and yes, best city in Europe for rugby too ! www.esa.int/ESA_Multimedia/Images/2021/09/Toulouse_together
