A few of the Canary islands as this week's Volcano Friday. As their flag will show these islands have nothing to do with canaries, but dogs. Something got lost in translation in the English name for these Atlantic, volcanic islands!

Valence ! (le port en Catalogne, pas la capitale de la Drôme :)) Pour une fois, les masses sombres ne correspondent pas à des forêts ou des plans d’eau – d’ailleurs ce serait étrange pour une ville aussi grande et ancienne. En fait il s’agit en fait des champs de la Horta, irrigués par un système qui remonte à plus de 1000 ans pour adapter l'agriculture aux conditions climatiques de la région. :open_mouth: C’est l’un des rares sites agricoles européens sur la liste des SIPAM Systèmes Ingénieux du Patrimoine Mondial… Comme quoi il n’y a pas que dans le spatial qu’on utilise des acronymes !) (:wave: FAO)

Valencia! I am sure the people living around there or the people working at the docks don't realise that their harbour is so picturesque from space, like jaws eating up the ships in the night -ironic because it is the opposite, the harbour offers shelter for ships :grinning:. It always makes me think of that saying: ships are safest in a harbour, but that is not what ships are made for.

Memories of my childhood, spent camping in these areas. I never would have dreamt that I would take them from space one day, neither did my parents, not to mention my brother :joy:
