Israel designated some land in Palestine (specifically, in the West Bank) a "military fire zone" as an excuse to expel Palestinians. Now Israeli colonists are building a race track in that zone.
Apparently the designation was a simple pretext for ethnic cleansing.
People in several countries in Latin America are squeezed between water scarcity and privatization.
In the UK, as in the US, plutocratist politicians aim to keep reducing inheritance taxes.
Meanwhile, they keep increasing the sales taxes that are most burdensome for people of low income.
These taxes fall only on the wealthy. They should be increased, and the paths to avoid them should be closed off.
An entrepreneur who insulted the homeless of San Francisco has had a change of heart and proposes a plan to house 500 homeless people on a berthed cruise ship.
The ship would also rent rooms to tourists.
I think that his change of heart is sincere, and we should not hold his past callousness against his subsequent caring. However, the solution he proposes could not possibly work on a significant scale for adding either housing or shelter space in San Francisco. It might perhaps be worth doing with one ship, if there is a spare cruise ship available cheap.
