Avec un peu plus de zoom, peut-être? Au moins on repère facilement Alexandrie, Le Caire, ou le canal de Suez…

Another picture of Corsica, not wanting to neglect other areas on Earth, but it is easier to recognise islands and coasts!

La Corse a de nouveau droit à un cliché : ce n’est pas que je n’aime pas les régions dans les terres, mais c’est beaucoup plus facile de se repérer avec une île ou une côte !!

The more I look at Earth the more I see that every shape and form is represented – whether man made or created by nature. These lagoons are part of an excavation in Yucatan Mexico: the artificial lakes and salt piles are made by humans, but the colours are from nature – plankton and other organisms in this case.

Toutes les formes et les couleurs sont dans la nature ! Un « lagon » constitué des bassins d’une usine d’extraction au Yucatán, au Mexique : les montagnes de sel et la forme des lacs artificiels sont ici l’œuvre de l’homme, mais la couleur rose, elle, est naturelle…

During the Proxima mission we have been running experiments with CNES for students. This is the CriISStal experiment bag that we used to grow crystals in microgravity. On Earth, students run the same experiment to compare results, with one big difference: the effects of gravity! Crystal growth in space is not only for schools: JAXA has been crystallising proteins in space. Researchers are interested in specific proteins that could be used to target diseases on Earth such as muscle disorders.

Des collégiens et lycéens ont eux aussi mené cette expérience sur Terre en même temps qu’elle se déroulait sur la Station, afin de comparer les résultats avec et sans l’effet de la gravité.

Pour Proxima, le CNES a organisé une série d’expériences pour les jeunes. CrISStal,en photo, a porté sur la croissance des cristaux. Des collégiens et lycéens ont eux aussi mené cette expérience sur Terre en même temps qu’elle se déroulait sur la Station, afin de comparer les résultats avec et sans l’effet de la gravité.

Timelapse over California with a thunderstorm on the horizon. These timelapses are made on Earth by taking many pictures and playing them one after the other. There are usually around 25 pictures for a second of video.

Nuit agitée d’orages au-dessus de la Californie, avant le lever de soleil fulgurant. Ce timelapse a été produit sur Terre en juxtaposant plusieurs photos - chaque seconde correspond à environ 25 clichés.
