In the airlock before donning spacesuits

Today we performed the 200th spacewalk of the ISS programme! This is an unbelievable milestone, and a testimony to the professionalism of all the teams involved. Peggy and Jack were the EV crew, I was in charge of flying the robotic arm. Things didn’t go exactly as planned, but we overcame the difficulties as a team, with MCC Houston doing a fantastic job guiding us.

Oil Refineries

Refineries on a worryingly large scale – seen from space our planet is not as big as you imagine when you are a kid

Sardinia

ESA sent me on two training sessions in Sardinia, a summer survival training with my astronauts classmates and an expedition for CAVES together with Tim Peake, Kanai Norishige, Randy Bresnik and Sergei!
