I haven't had much time yet to take photos of Earth as I have been busy and I need to readapt to microgravity. Also the International Space Station is different from the last time I was here during the Proxima mission in 2017: there are more people and it is more complex, and only going to get more. However we flew directly over Paris recently, the capital of France, and Soichi had setup the cameras already so I managed to snap this quick shot. Check out the shadows on the Eiffel Tower!

Je n’ai pas encore eu le temps de me remettre à la photo: il faut se réhabituer à l’environnement, et la station est plus complexe (et plus peuplée !) que lors de ma dernière mission. Mais j’ai eu droit à un passage à la verticale de Paris, par un temps parfait… je ne pouvais pas rater ça ! @Soichi, le maître ès photo à bord, avait déjà configuré les appareils :ok_hand: L'ombre de la Tour Eiffel est particulièrement impressionnante : on dirait un cadran solaire géant.

La trajectoire de la Station va toujours d'ouest en est : une chance pour ma Normandie natale, sous le soleil comme toujours :sunglasses: (quoi qu’en diront les rageux :wink:). Elle ouvre le bal des photos depuis l’orbite !

Here’s everyone’s favourite hangout place on the International Space Station: the (European-built) Cupola! With windows on the world, a great place to drink your coffee, call a friend (yes, you can call Earth from the Space Station), or simply to take in the view. I promised myself to spend more time in here (but yes ESA I will still do all the work and more, don’t worry!) :wink:


Voici l'endroit préféré des astronautes à bord de la Station spatiale internationale : la Cupola, un équipement construit en Europe ! C'est notre fenêtre sur le monde, le lieu idéal pour boire un café, appeler nos proches (oui, on peut téléphoner depuis l'espace), ou simplement admirer la vue. Je me suis promis d'y passer un peu plus de temps lors de la #MissionAlpha (mais promis ESA, ça n'empiétera pas sur mon travail :wink:)

Aki et moi marchant vers notre Dragon, dans le bras d’accès vers la fusée, à 70 m d’altitude :rocket: Merci à SpaceX de nous avoir envoyé cette photo. Leur équipe de clôture a fait un boulot formidable : ce sont toutes les personnes en noir que vous avez vu autour de nous, équipées de masques, de combinaisons et avec un numéro dans le dos pour préciser leur rôle. On a l’air déterminés (et c’était le cas !) et peut-être un peu triste de quitter la Terre et les personnes qui nous sont chères… ou alors simplement fatigués, la nuit avait été très courte :wink: J’ai déjà l’impression que c’était il y a une éternité :sweat_smile:

Aki and me walking to our Dragon, in the access arm to the rocket 70 m high :rocket: The closeout team did a fantastic job (all the SpaceX ninjas you see around us with masks, black flightsuits and numbers on their backs – each with their defined roles… or almost). We look determined… and maybe a bit sad to leave Earth and our loved ones behind, or just tired (no sleep that night :sweat_smile:). It feels like we left earth long ago and it was just 3 days!

Notre dragon est minuscule comparé à l’immensité de notre planète, mais il pèse quand même plus de 10 tonnes, et il a fière allure :sunglasses:

A picture of our Dragon in approach to the International Space Station... yes it's tiny compared to the immensity of earth, but it still weighs over 10 000 kg, and it looks really good. :dragon::sunglasses:
