Les hublots de la Cupola sont protégés par des panneaux anti-rayures qui sont… pas mal rayés (par les astronauts qui manient les appareils photo trop vigoureusement), ce qui complique la photographie avec les focales les plus longues. L’un d’entre eux est tout de même moins rayé que les autres, autant vous dire que j’étais ravi quand la Lune est apparue dans cet encadrement ! S’il s’éloigne de la Terre de 3 cm par an, notre satellite est symboliquement de plus en plus proche de nous, au fur et à mesure de l’avancement des futures missions lunaires. Si vous aimez regarder la Lune, un événement international lui est consacré ce weekend. Pendant 72h, des astronomes professionnels et amateurs vous proposent de les rejoindre pour l’observer sous toutes ses coutures. Une façon de la redécouvrir… un peu comme avec cette vue prise depuis la Station ;)

The Cupola windows have scratch panes on the inside, that protect the windows from camera lenses bumping into it... but they are quite scratched over the years and it makes it very difficult to take pictures with the big lenses… only one window has a bump shield that slides open. I was only too happy to see the Moon frame itself perfectly in that window. Serendipity! The Moon is symbolically getting closer all the time with new programmes and humans set to land on our natural satellite in the next few years, brought there by the European Service Module for NASA's Orion spacecraft. A great international event is scheduled this weekend: in a 72-hour marathon @onthemoonagain see the Moon in new light and new angles (like here on the Space Station) through telescopes sharing their view all over the world: www.onthemoonagain.org/
