Thanks nycguy29. I’m putting in some really long hours at the lab these days, trying to power through planning/doing/writing up experiments…one day the hard work will pay off and I’ll have the PhD in hand…but till then, I think the next year may be nose to the grind!

Life is a bit of blur at the moment…working the academic life is more tiring than it might sound :-) Heading to Tokyo on the weekend for a conference though, and I’ve booked a room at the infamous (apparently) 24 Kaikan in Shinjuku. It is a sauna/hotel that caters for gay guys. From what I’ve heard on the interwebs, there’s the usual communal bath area (usual in the sense that communal baths are normal in Japan), a ‘video room floor’ (where you can watch gay porn next to other guys), a couple of open sleeping areas (where action is said to happen), and private hotel rooms on the floors above that. I’ve booked a private room. Not expecting to get any, but I am looking forward to the experience of a ‘cruising’ location. Honest to god very first time experience.
