In these bags are 1.2 million tomato seeds for the Tomatosphere project run by the Canadian Space Agency. Students in 20 000 classrooms across Canada and the United States will receive the seeds when they return to Earth. They will grow these seeds next to ones that were not sent to space to see if their trip to space changes the tomato plants. This is a nice example of science and education and I hope the youngsters get involved and take good care of the plants! www.asc-csa.gc.ca/eng/educators/tomatosphere.asp

Ces petits sacs renferment 1,2 millions de… graines de tomates ! Il s’agit du projet Tomatosphere (sic) lancé par l’ Agence spatiale canadienne / Canadian Space Agency. 20 000 classes de maternelles et de primaire dans toute l’Amérique du nord recevront ces pépins après leur séjour dans la Station spatiale. Les enfants pourront alors les cultiver à l’école et comparer la croissance de ces tomates avec celles qui ne sont jamais parties dans l’espace. Ils seront donc aux premières loges pour observer l'effet du rayonnement spatial sur les légumes.
