Mark en plein travail sur l’instrument de la JAXA SOLISS. Il utilise un laser pour communiquer avec un récepteur au Japon, et il est donc placé, très logiquement, à l’extérieur de la Station, on voit le sas derrière Mark ! Il a dû le rentrer pour lui ajouter une amélioration, le tester en profondeur et l’a ensuite ressorti. Les communications laser offrent des vitesses d’échanges incomparables, d’ailleurs il est prévu d’utiliser la même technologie, mais made in Europe, à l’extérieur du laboratoire Columbus.

Mark working on JAXA's Small Optical Communication System, which is abbreviated to SOLISS for some reason. It uses a laser to communicate with a receiver and transmitter in Japan. Of course you need line of sight so the facility is actually placed outside, you can see the airlock behind Mark. He was actually upgrading it, the unit came inside, Mark installed an adapter to test a new function, and then it went back outside again! Laser communications offer super-fast speeds and a laser link is set to be put up outside the Columbus laboratory too, it will communicate with the European Data Relay Satellite.
