The Corinth Canal in Greece splits the splits the peninsular in two as if sliced by a sword, creating this very human-made straight line in the landscape. The shipping sector gains as the shortest distance between two points is always a straight line. We cannot actually see it without the camera lense from the International Space Station, like with the Chinese Wall you need to orient yourself with other landmarks, aim and zoom in, and get lucky.

Dans la série des canaux, je voudrais le canal de Corinthe! Il tranche l’isthme du même nom en deux comme un coup d’épée, avec ses parois impressionnantes qui dépassent largement la hauteur des navires qui le traversent. Pas visible à l’œil nu depuis l’espace… sauf si on sait précisément où regarder L’avantage des voyages spatiaux longs : on finit par connaître la planète par cœur.
