Inspection de notre tapis de course à l’aide d’un casque de réalité augmentée (lequel tapis s’appelle COLBERT, mais rien à voir avec l’Histoire de France). :sunglasses: Ça permet de travailler avec les mains libres (pas besoin de vérifier la procédure sur sa tablette) et surtout ça évite de recourir trop souvent au Centre de contrôle. Une manière d’opérer cruciale en vue des futures expéditions lointaines pour lesquels il y aura inévitablement des décalages de communication. Depuis Mars, la voix d’un astronaute devrait mettre une vingtaine de minutes à parvenir sur Terre… !

Using augmented reality lenses to inspect our treadmill, yes clicking in mid-air won’t make it work better, I realise that. Although astronauts have to be proficient at many things and have training, we have (lots of) limits to our knowledge and skills :grin:. We rely on mission control for everything, to help us and guide us and lend a helping hand. But if you have ever tried to help somebody fix their computer, or instruct them to do a difficult task over the phone, you will know how difficult it is! No not that thingy, the other thingy! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Space agencies are constantly trying to improve the process and augmented reality is another test, allowing us both hands to work with as well as avoiding the necessity to stop what we are doing to move to the next step on a checklist on our tablets. Win-win possibly?
