:shower: Ceci n’est pas un pommeau de douche (il n’y a pas de douche à bord de l’ISS :astonished:), ni un rétroviseur de voiture. Il s’agit d’un démonstrateur technologique ESA - European Space Agency / CNES nommé Télémaque. Le principe est simple mais si on vous en avait parlé il y a 50 ans, vous n’y auriez jamais cru. En utilisant des ultrasons qu’on projette dans la bonne direction, on peut manipuler des objets, juste avec le son. Sur Terre, on sait déjà qu’on peut les déplacer. Mais dans l’espace, où tout bouge sans arrêt puisqu’il n’y a pas de pesanteur pour les clouer au sol, cette technologie pourrait être extrêmement utile. On peut imaginer s’en servir pour manipuler des substances dangereuses ou toxiques par exemple. C’est un principe intéressant qu’étudie cette expérience, et Mark est venu le constater en personne et s’y essayer. Peut-être que ça lui rappelle la sensation délicieuse d’une bonne douche ?

:shower: This is not a shower (we don't have one on the Space Station :astonished:) but another ESA - European Space Agency / CNES technology demonstration: Ultrasonic Tweezers. The idea is pretty simple but it would have blown people's minds if you told them about it half a century ago. By using ultrasound waves and projecting them in the right way you can manipulate objects through sound alone. On Earth you can make them move, but in space it could be an extremely handy technology to manipulate objects as things move more easily without the need to overcome the pull of gravity. The technique could be used for experiments with dangerous or toxic materials for example. It is an interesting object and Mark came by to have a look and test it out too. Maybe he was missing the Earthly delight of a shower?
