Quelques jours à peine après mon retour sur Terre, mon collègue allemand et ami Matthias Maurer prend ma relève à bord de l’ISS, pour son premier vol. Nous devions même nous croiser à bord, occasion manquée à cause d’une météo capricieuse… les aléas opérationnels ! C’est néanmoins une continuité forte entre astronautes européens, et notre collègue italienne Samantha complètera ce relai dans quelques mois en succédant à Matthias. Il va d’ici-là réaliser son programme scientifique dans la continuation du mien, et j’espère qu’il se lancera lui aussi dans la photo spatiale : durant notre entraînement, nous avions échangé sur le sujet (je m’étais permis quelques conseils) ;) www.youtube.com/watch?v=m0s65PKtNi4

A few days after our landing, my German ESA astronaut colleague and friend Matthias Maurer launched to the Space Station. We were supposed to meet in space, but things turned out differently due to the weather in Florida! European human spaceflight is on the go, as Samantha Cristoforetti will take over from Matthias in just a few months too. They will both continue research and run experiments, some of which all three of us will be guinea pigs for. It is Matthias's first time in space, but we all gave him some tips and advice during training before his launch, looking forward to following his mission as an Earthling. :)
