It is not easy to see borders from space, especially around the Sahara... this mine is in Mauritania where they have been excavating copper for many years. The village is the birthplace of the current president and also the person who dubs the voice of Morgan Freeman and Eddie Murphy (yes we dub films in France, and yes, I looked this up on the internet) :)

Intrigué par cette mine en plein Sahara, j’ai fait mes recherches : la petite ville à l’est de l’excavation, c’est Akjoujt en Mauritanie, d’où a été extrait du cuivre pendant des siècles… et ville natale de l’acteur qui a, entre autres, doublé en français à la fois Morgan Freeman et… Eddie Murphy !
