In many US schools, the staff go out of their way to stigmatize students from poor families. Anyone who would even think of this should not be working with children.

It seems to me that schools are doing the wrong sort of background check on their staff. Contempt for some set of students — whether it is poverty, or an ethnic group — is the biggest danger to the students.
