Astronauts that travelled far away from Earth got a big increase in heart disease many years later, compared with other astronauts.

The danger for them was the same as for the general public; but since they were selected for special fitness, they should have had much less heart disease, as other astronauts did.

They spent just one week away from Earth. Mars travellers, spending a much longer time away from Earth, might see a much larger effect.
