Vancouver, with its large population of immigrants from China and nearby countries, is becoming the focus of anti-Sinasian hate in Canada.

I use the term "Sinasian" because the target group of this particular hate movement includes countries such as Indonesia and the Philippines, which are not in Asia. Also because it does not include countries such as Israel, Palestine, Syria, Iran, Pakistan and India, which are in Asia.

People from those countries are also currently targets of bigotry and hatred, and that is just as wrong as when the targets are Chinese or neighboring. But when people say "anti-Asian", they don't have in mind the western parts of Asia.
