African swine fever is spreading around the world and could kill 1/4 of the world's pigs.

As far as I can see, the only way in meat can infect live pigs is if farms feed pigs with pork. That practice is asking for trouble: it is what enabled how BSE to spread among cattle. We need governments that have the will and strength to make and enforce laws to stop this.

Farmers would reject the dangerous practice on their own, if they were thinking about long-term risks. But instead they cede to short-term competitive pressure to maximize efficiency. Blocking that is part of the state's job.
