In the pervasive cruelty of Nauru, children are accustomed to rape and to suicide, and parents plan to carry their children into the sea.

The private contractors (of course!) that run the Nauru refugee prison cover up the situation by minimizing each incident. When doctors say a prisoner needs urgent medical care, the government says no.

If Australia wants to avoid receiving many thousands of refugees, it had better not try to cover up what it does.
