James Newman is building a Mega-processor : it's made from transistors, but instead of using teeny-weeny ones integrated on a silicon chip it uses discrete individual ones. Thousands of them. And loads of LEDs (~3500).
The whole thing is several meters wide, weighs half a ton and requires 500W of power.
